Joe Fortune Casino Review

You know that feeling when you come across something that looks like it has real potential but just doesn’t quite live up to it? That’s exactly how I felt when I first tested Joe Fortune Casino. It’s an Aussie-exclusive casino, so naturally, I had high expectations. And to be fair, the potential really is there – it’s just buried under a few questionable decisions.

Take the welcome bonus, for example. You see a package worth up to A$5,000 and 450 free spins, and you think, “Nice, that’s on par with the best Australian casinos.” But then you check the T&Cs and realise it’s not quite as generous as it seems. Or you spot titles like Sugar Rush and Gates of Olympus, and expect a massive game library, only to find just 600+ games, which isn’t bad, but a far cry from the 5,000+ you’ll find elsewhere.

Still, I’ve always believed you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. So, I decided to do a proper review of Joe Fortune casino to see if it’s still worth your time or if that initial feeling was right.

Pros

Over 12 video poker games
Joe Fortune exclusive pokies
Solid PWE app
Very thorough Help Centre
No weekly or monthly withdrawal limits
Decent Refer a Friend bonus offering up to A$75

Cons

Too high wagering requirements
Limited filtering options in the game lobby
Fees apply from the second withdrawal of the month

Should You Play at Joe Fortune? Australian Gamblers Explain

In short, yes, you should give Joe Fortune a go. It’s a solid Australian casino that does plenty right, but if we’re being realistic, it’s still a step behind names like DragonSlots or King Billy. The game library is more limited, and the website feels slower and a bit dated, which means that your only real option is the PWE app. The app is surprisingly good, though.

On the bright side, Joe Fortune has 15+ RNG video poker games, making it a great starting point for poker newcomers. It also features a handful of progressive jackpot titles for those chasing big wins, and with full licensing and regulation, you can rest assured that it’s a legitimate and safe casino.

Joe Fortune Bonuses

Joe Fortune Casino bonuses

The welcome bonus banner is impressive: a 150% deposit match of up to A$5,000 and 450 free spins. However, once you start digging, you realise that there are a few caveats, both with the bonus percentage and the terms of the bonus.

Other deals include the Prize Wheel, where you can win prize points, and my personal favourite here: the Joe’s Rewards program, which is a 6-tier loyalty program that unlocks other bonuses.

Deposit 5100% up to A$1,000 and 150 Free Spins150% up to A$1,000 and 150 Free Spins50x

As good as A$5,000 and 450 free spins sound, I can’t stay immune to the fact that the wagering requirements are 50x for both your deposit and the bonus money.

So, theoretically, to get a A$5,000 bonus, you need to deposit A$5,000 (if you use cards). That’s A$10,000 that you need to play through 50 times, so you need to wager at least A$500,000 for the money to become withdrawable.

Unless you get really, really lucky, the chances of wagering A$500,000 without losing it all are low. Clearing the wagering requirements of the free spins part of the bonus might be more realistic, but there’s another problem here: the maximum cashout for the free spins is A$500.

The only positive about the terms and conditions is that if you deposit with crypto, you actually get a 150% bonus match instead of a 100% match. Still, clearing 50x wagering requirements is a stretch.

The minimum amount you need to deposit to activate the welcome package is A$30, which is not the lowest out there, but it’s within the industry standards, so I’ll give it a passing grade.

Tip from Australian Gamblers: Joe Fortune’s bonus isn’t necessarily that bad, especially if you’re using crypto. A 150% deposit match is still a great offer, and it might actually be easier to clear the wagering requirements if you get a lower bonus amount. Don’t get greedy and go for the full value. Instead, deposit A$100 to A$300 to get the best value and the best chances to clear the WR.

Joe Fortune Casino Prize Wheel details

Joe Fortune seems very proud of its prize wheel, and it sure looks good, but it’s not some groundbreaking promotion. The way it’s advertised, you first get the impression that it’s a no deposit bonus, but it turns out you need to have deposited at least A$30.

The rewards are also a bit on the weak side. I expected cash rewards or at least free spins, but you can only get Casino Points, which you can later trade for bonus credits.

Joe Fortune Casino referral bonus

I quite like the Refer-a-Friend bonus at Joe Fortune. Plain and simple: you send your friends a referral link, they deposit at least A$20, and you both get A$50 each. If they deposit with crypto, you get A$75 each.

This is actually a very fair bonus, and it helps that the wagering requirements for the referral promo are just 30x, which is more realistic.

Joe Fortune Casino Loyalty Program

The loyalty program is called Joe’s Rewards and is a standard loyalty program where you acquire CP that you can later trade in for cash rewards. It has six levels, but even though it promises several benefits, the only one that’s worth it is the redemption rate.

Starting from level 4, Platinum, the redemption rate is 1,000 CP = A$1. Considering that pokies provide 5 CP per A$1 played, you need to play A$200 in pokies to get A$1 as a reward. That’s not too bad, and what’s even better is that specialty games like Bingo and Keno provide 15 CP per A$1 played.

Joe Fortune Casino Daily Boost

The promotional page is surprisingly hard to find, hidden in the footer, so I almost missed the Daily Boost promo. It’s actually a decent reload promo that rewards a deposit match, but the exact percentage and amount depend on whether you deposit with crypto or card, and how much you deposit.

For example, if you deposit from A$30 to A$99.99 with a card, you only get a 10% boost. However, if you deposit A$200 or more with crypto, you get a 100% boost. The wagering requirements are 30x regardless of how you deposited, so the operator is gently pushing you to deposit with crypto.

You don’t need to enter a bonus code to get the daily boost, but note that it’s only available after the 5th deposit, and you do need to opt in for it when depositing.

Joe Fortune Real Money Games

Joe Fortune Casino Games

Joe Fortune’s game library is indeed good, but it’s just not the best out there. The video poker game selection is very solid, and there are plenty of popular pokies like Big Bass Bonanza and Gates of Olympus, so it’s not like you can’t have fun here.

But when you look at the overall size, I can’t grade Joe Fortune the same as casinos that have thousands of games.

The filtering system is also annoying, not because it’s that bad, but because it’s something that the operator can easily fix, yet they refuse to do so.

Joe Fortune Casino Poker Games

So, is Joe Fortune a poker site? Well, if you compare it to sites like Ignition or CoinPoker, then no, Joe Fortune is not a traditional poker site. However, it does have two poker categories as subcategories under Table Games: Poker Games and Video Poker.

The Poker Games category has a few RNG poker games, like Pai Gow Poker and Three Card Rummy, and Jackpot Poker Let ‘Em Ride. So, what’s jackpot poker? It’s a game that combines pokies and poker. In the case of Let ‘Em Ride by Bally Technologies, which you can play at Joe Fortune, it’s a table game that’s played with five-card poker rules, but instead of competing against other players, you’re just trying to make a strong poker hand from five cards, and the payouts are based on your hand strength.

There are two reasons why I like this poker version: it’s a great starting place to learn poker, and you can even play it in practice (demo) mode for free. And it’s a unique game that I haven’t spotted at other Australian casinos, so it’s Joe Fortune’s unique selling point.

Joe Fortune Casino Video Poker

The other poker category is Video Poker, which has about a dozen games like Jacks or Better, Aces & Faces, Joker Poker, and similar. Video poker is another great option for beginners because you can try it for free, and you’re not playing against other players, so there’s no pressure when making decisions.

Joe Fortune Casino Online Pokies

The online pokies library takes the largest part of Joe Fortune’s lobby, and it’s a respectable selection of around 400 games. The filtering options are Hold & Win, Bonus Buy, Progressives, Ways Pays, and Video Pokies, but I’m really missing a search bar or a way to filter the games by provider.

The lobby mostly contains popular games by around 20 developers like Pragmatic Play, BGaming, and Playson, but considering that these are the same studios behind the pokies Aussie players actually love, I can’t really fault the selection for sticking to what works. You’ll find plenty of hits like Sugar Rush, Gates of Olympus, Elvis Frog, 777 Coins, and 3 Hot Chillis.

I went digging for some lesser-known titles, too, and was happy to see a few standouts:

  • Freaks of Folklore by Dragon Gaming
  • Mythic Wolf Extreme by Rival Gaming (a Joe Fortune exclusive)
  • Zombie Mash by Betsoft (another Joe Fortune exclusive)

Joe Fortune Casino Table Games

With around 50 games, the table games section is actually bigger and better than what I expected. These are all RNG tables, so they’re all playable in demo mode too. The selection is fairly standard, with several roulette and blackjack variants, and the video poker that I already mentioned, but there are a few baccarat and craps games too.

Joe Fortune Casino Live Dealers

The best way to describe Joe Fortune’s live casino is that it’s compact. In reality, it has around 30 games, so it’s much smaller when compared to the live casinos at some of the best in the category, like Ritzo Casino, for example, but it does the job.

It’s mostly roulette and blackjack games by Gold Tier Games, and a few game shows like Sweet Bonanza Candyland and Treasure Island by Pragmatic Play Live. My hits here are Crypt of Giza and Three Card Poker Live.

Joe Fortune Casino Jackpot Games

I knew I was in for a good jackpot section when I noticed that Joe Fortune features RealTime Gaming pokies, and it didn’t disappoint. There are around 60 jackpot games with fixed and progressive jackpots, but the ‘stars’ of the lobby are RTG’s progressive jackpots with prizes that regularly reach millions, like Jackpot Pinatas with a grand jackpot prize of A$2.3 million at the time of writing.

Joe Fortune Casino Speciality Games

As much as I dislike Joe Fortune’s filtering options, the Specialty Games section is exactly what it should be: a section with all the games that are not pokies or table games. So, here, you’ll find instant win games, Plinko, Keno, Bingo, scratchies, tap games, Crash, and even virtual sports.

With around 50 games, it’s not the largest one out there, but it’s very diverse and features plenty of fun games like Capymania, Chick vs Croc, Amazonie Bingo, Fishing Club, Yellow Driver, and more.

You only know how useful the ‘filter by provider’ option is when it’s gone. I spent a lot of time testing games here, and here’s the full list of software providers that power the games at Joe Fortune Casino:

  • Rival gaming
  • Woohoo Games
  • Wingo
  • Real Time Gaming (RTG)
  • iSoftBet
  • Revolver
  • Makitone Gaming
  • Bally Technologies
  • Dragon Gaming
  • Gold Tier Games
  • Reevo
  • Pragmatic Play
  • Pragmatic Play Live
  • Novomatic
  • 3 Oaks
  • Playson
  • Spinomenal
  • Betsoft
  • GameArt
  • Qora Games
  • BGaming
  • Yggdrasil

Payment Methods at Joe Fortune Casino

Joe Fortune Casino Payment Methods

Joe Fortune is a hybrid casino that takes both crypto and cards, but let’s be honest – it’s pretty clear which child it loves more. Crypto users get all the perks like better bonuses, higher withdrawal limits, and lower minimum deposits. So, it’s not even subtle that it’s actually a crypto casino.

You can use BTC, LTC, ETH, USDT, Bitcoin Cash, and even the Bitcoin Lightning network. Deposits range from A$10 to A$10,000, but note that your BTC is converted to AUD, so I suggest you check the current rate.

If you stick to cards, the limits are a bit tighter, with A$20 minimum and A$1,000 maximum for deposits, which just confirms who the favourite child really is.

Note from Australian Gamblers: When depositing with any crypto (except Bitcoin Lightning), you’ll have to pay a conversion fee. However, the conversion fee is minimal and you’ll see the rate upfront (for example, 1 BTC = A$170,772.08 at the time of writing).

The withdrawal limits at Joe Fortune are… decent, but not impressive. The casino clearly leans toward crypto players here, too, with much higher limits and faster payouts compared to traditional options like bank transfers.

Regular players can withdraw up to A$10,000 every three days via crypto, which translates to roughly A$25,000 per week or A$100,000 a month if you’re consistent. That’s actually quite solid and should be more than enough for most players.

For wire transfers and checks, though, you’re capped at A$9,500 and A$3,000, respectively, and the payouts can take anywhere from three to seven business days.

There’s also the VIP and Rewards Program issue. Higher-tier players can apparently increase their deposit and withdrawal limits, but the casino doesn’t make it very clear how or by how much.

Mobile Play at Joe Fortune Casino

There’s no dedicated mobile app for Joe Fortune, aside from the PWE app for desktop, which I actually recommend downloading if you’re playing on a computer. It runs smoother and feels a bit more stable than the browser version.

On mobile, though, your only option is the website, and while it works fine, it can feel a bit slow and laggy at times. Still, it gets the job done, and at least all the games are mobile-friendly and you won’t miss out on any features.

Is Joe Fortune Casino Legit for Australian Players?

Joe Fortune Casino llicensing details

Yes, it is, and I consider this to be one of Joe Fortune’s strongest points.

The casino has been operating since 2017 as an Aussie-exclusive platform and has proven its reliability over the years. It’s run by Ridley Media N.V. and is fully licensed by the Curacao Gaming Control Board (Licence Number: OGL/2024/676/0726), so your money and data are safe.

On top of that, all the game developers featured are reputable names like Novomatic, Pragmatic Play, and Yggdrasil, so there’s no question about the quality or fairness of the games either.

The Responsible Gambling page is on the website’s footer and has information about how to gamble responsibly, how to do a self-assessment, and how to determine whether you should opt for a self-exclusion. However, it doesn’t offer any built-in RSG tools. Instead, it directs you to use the customer support service to set deposit limits, request cool-off periods, or self-exclude.

How to Go Through KYC

If you choose to play at Joe Fortune, keep in mind that a KYC verification check is mandatory. Yes, you can register and play games without full KYC verification, but you’ll have to do the check at some points because you’ll be unable to withdraw your winnings.

This is how to do it:

1

Under My Account, look for the Profile Settings.

Then, you’ll be prompted to verify your phone. Enter your phone number, and you’ll receive an SMS with a unique code. Enter the code.

2

Next up is an identity check.

Once your phone has been verified, you can proceed by verifying your identity. To do that, you’ll need to provide a photo of your ID, passport, or driver’s licence.

3

It’s time to verify your address.

To do that, you’ll need to provide a document like a bank statement that confirms your address or a photo of a utility bill in your name.

Joe Fortune’s customer support team will review your documents and verify your account within 72 hours. Since the KYC check might take up to 3 days or even longer, I suggest you do it as soon as you register.

Customer Support

Joe Fortune Casino Customer Support Options

The options to reach customer support include live chat, email support, and a help centre. I had a lot of problems getting the live chat to work, but I think this is more of a website issue than a CS issue. There seems to be a bug where 9 out of 10 times you don’t see the live chat window, but the one time that it decides to work, it’s actually quite good.

I got a response from a human agent within a few minutes after reaching out, and they were knowledgeable and helpful. The same can be said about the email support, which responded in about a day.

I only used the live chat and email support to test them out, though, because you really don’t need anything other than the help centre. It covers literally every question one might have, and there are like 50+ questions (and answers) in the FAQ section.

If Joe Fortune were spending on its game library as much as it is spending on its marketing department, this could be one of the top Australian casinos. Now, it’s only mediocre.

It already has a relatively large player base and is quite popular on social media, so I guess they’re not trying as hard to attract new players now. Because, to be perfectly honest, it’s hard to attract new users with a welcome bonus that comes with 50x wagering requirements, regardless of the promised bonus amount. Surprise, surprise: it’s not 2017 anymore, and players actually read the T&Cs now.

Joe Fortune Casino Alternatives

If Joe Fortune doesn’t quite tick all the boxes for you, there are plenty of other Australian casinos that offer better poker games, bigger game libraries, and more flexible bonuses.
