CoinPoker Review

If you want to succeed in today’s competitive online gambling world, you need to cover a specific niche. That’s exactly what CoinPoker does – it combines two very popular niches: poker and crypto. Founded by poker pros Tony G and Isabelle Mercier, the platform brings real expertise to the table and has become one of the most popular online poker sites worldwide.

Although I’m not a fan of bragging banners, CoinPoker is very bold to announce that it’s “The World’s Largest Crypto Online Poker Room”, so there might be something about it after all, and the 150% poker bonus up to 2,000 USDT certainly catches the eye. Beyond that, the casino and sportsbook sections are present, and at first glance, they look solid too.

I played at CoinPoker a few years ago when it first launched in 2017, but I haven’t been returning often, so now I’m back for a full test to see what’s new, how the poker compares to other great poker sites like Ignition, and what the platform has to offer in terms of bonuses, casino games, and overall experience for Australian players.

Note from Australian Gamblers: CoinPoker is only available through the software client/app. You can use the website to get information and download the client or app if you’re on a mobile device. Everything else, like registration, bonuses, poker tournaments, cash games, sports betting, deposits, and withdrawals, is available via the CoinPoker client.

Pros

Decent traffic at all times
Hundreds of poker tournaments daily (freerolls & high rollers)
Multiple poker variants: Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and 5 Card Omaha
Good selection of popular casino games
Live casino with 200+ games
33% weekly rakeback for poker players
Ultra-quick crypto withdrawals
Can use HUDs

Cons

Download-only platform, no instant-play web option
Poker rooms and graphics feel a bit dated
Too reliant on CHP (CoinPoker’s currency)

Should You Play at CoinPoker? Australian Gamblers Explain

Yes, CoinPoker is a legit site with a solid reputation, launched by Lithuanian-Australian poker pro, Tony G, and Isabelle Mercier, an Open Face Chinese Poker world champion, and licensed in Anjouan.

It’s best suited for freerolls, low-stakes tournaments, and cash games, but it can be a good choice for high rollers too, as it supports HUD use.

The casino offers a decent selection of games from quality providers, including Pragmatic Play and Booming Games, but it only features around 350 games, so it’s no match for casino-first sites like DragonSlots or Richard Casino.

Also, while you can play with BTC, USDT, or ETH, the platform heavily promotes its native CHP currency and encourages players to stay within its ecosystem, so most of the bonuses and rakeback are only available if you use CHP.

CoinPoker Bonuses

CoinPoker bonuses

Let’s be honest here: most poker players don’t really care about the bonuses. Sure, it’s nice to get some boost like rakeback or even a deposit match, but if you’ve been in the game long enough, you know that you shouldn’t really rely too much on bonuses. Well, CoinPoker tries to change that notion.

The promotional banner says that you get a 150% deposit match as a welcome bonus of up to 2,000 USDT (which is 2,000 US dollars or about A$3,000). Technically, it’s true, but I’ll explain all the details later.

However, if you’re a casino player, you can choose the casino welcome bonus. It’s also a 150% deposit match of up to 2,000 USDT, and comes with decent 30x wagering requirements.

Other bonuses include a weekly rakeback for poker players, numerous pokie tournaments for casino players, and a weekly casino leaderboard with a prize pool of $10,000.

Poker Welcome Bonus150% up to $2,000Generate 2x of the bonus in rake
Casino Welcome Bonus150% up to $2,00030x

Since the two bonuses are very different, I’ll explain them in separate sections.

CoinPoker Poker Welcome Bonus

A 150% deposit match of up to $2,000 for poker? I’ll take it any day of the week if it’s as simple as that. Unfortunately, it’s not. As per the terms and conditions, there’s a path to get the full welcome bonus, and, based on my 20+ year poker experience, it’s not an easy one. First things first, to be eligible for the bonus, you have to deposit $10 or more via any payment method. Then, the bonus is activated automatically.

However, to unlock the bonus, you need to generate twice your bonus in rake. You’ll be getting the bonus in portions each time you make 10% of it in rake, so that’s the positive here. The negative? You’ll have to play a lot of hands to unlock the bonus.

The cash game rake at CoinPoker is fixed at 5%, while the rake for tournaments is 6% to 8%. For the beginners here: rake is basically a small fee the casino takes from each pot you play in, either at a cash game or a tournament. At CoinPoker, this is called Community Contributions, and it’s used to fund the platform. In other words, this is how the platform makes money from poker.

So let’s say you’re playing a cash game hand where the pot ends up at $20. With a 5% rake, $1 is automatically contributed toward your rake target. Now, if you deposited $100, your full bonus potential is $150 (you get a 150% deposit match, remember?).

To get the full $150, you need to contribute $300. Once you’ve contributed enough to reach 10% of your bonus, a portion of the poker welcome bonus is released into your account. You then continue playing hands, generating more rake, until you eventually unlock the full bonus.

CoinPoker Casino Welcome Bonus

CoinPoker’s Casino welcome bonus works differently from any other sign-up deal you’d find at other top AU casinos. As I mentioned, it gives new players a 150% bonus of up to $2,000 on their first deposit of $10 or more.

Unlike the poker bonus, which relies on rake from hands, the casino bonus is cleared by wagering. What’s unusual is how the bonus is released. Like the poker bonus, the casino welcome bonus is released in 10% instalments each time you wager 3x that portion on eligible casino games.

Let’s say you deposited $1,000, and you get a $1,500 bonus. Now, you don’t get the $1,500 as bonus money like at any other casino. Here, to unlock the first $150 (10%), you need to wager $350 (3x the portion). Continue this way until the full $1,500 is unlocked, which would require $45,000 total wagers.

Pokies contribute 100% towards the wagering, while live game shows contribute 20%, roulette 5%, and games like dice and baccarat don’t contribute at all.

Tip from Australian Gamblers: At first glance, CoinPoker’s bonus might look tougher to clear than a regular casino offer, but it’s actually fairer. In most online casinos, you might get $1,500 in bonus money, but you’ll need to wager it 40 times before you can withdraw any winnings (which rarely happens). On CoinPoker, you earn your bonus bit by bit as you play, and each portion you unlock goes straight into your balance as real money. There’s no fake bonus balance as a separate wallet. With CoinPoker’s bonus, you essentially get cashback on your money, and since it comes in portions, you’ll likely get something out of it.

CoinPoker Rakeback

CoinPoker offers a 33% weekly rakeback program, but there’s a catch: it only applies if you hold enough CHP to cover the rakeback, the platform’s native token. Every time you play poker, a small portion of each pot (the rake) is collected in USDT, which is CoinPoker’s main in-game currency.

Once you leave the table, the system checks your balance to see if you own any CHP. If you do, you’ll automatically receive 33% of your rakeback as cashback. If you don’t, the rake is simply paid in USDT, and you don’t get a rebate.

The way it works is a bit technical. When rakeback is processed, half of the USDT rake you’ve paid is converted into CHP. This means that your rakeback is tied to the CHP token’s value and liquidity. In other words, this is more of an ecosystem incentive than a real 33% cashback.

There’s one more important detail: you can only buy CHP directly in the CoinPoker client, in the cashier section. A 5% fee applies when purchasing the token, so while CoinPoker advertises a 33% rakeback, the effective rate is closer to 31.35%.

CoinPoker Casino Leaderboard

CoinPoker has a Casino Leaderboard tournament, and I actually like this one. It’s simple, automatic, and the prizes are huge for a relatively small field. You don’t need to opt in or track anything manually, just play your usual pokies, and you’ll be earning leaderboard points.

The top five players split $10,000 every week, with $5,000 for the winner. Pokies give you full points (1 point per $1 wagered), but even table games still count, just at a lower rate.

CoinPoker CoinRaces

The CoinRaces promotion is CoinPoker’s main poker cash game leaderboard system, which replaces the old “cash game leaderboards” and the Bad Beat Jackpot.

It’s a continuous, daily competition where poker players can earn extra cash based on how much rake (Community Contributions) they generate while playing No-Limit Hold’em (NLH), Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO), and 5-Card PLO games.

There are six 4-hour “races” every day, with two separate leaderboards: one for low-to-mid stakes and one for higher-stakes players. Players earn points for every hand they play, and you collect points with the rake you contribute. The total daily prize pool is $12,000, and the winners of each high-stakes race win $400, while the winners of the low-to-mid stakes races win $150.

CoinPoker Real Money Games

CoinPoker Poker Table

Obviously, poker is the main attraction here – there’s really no way around it. That said, the other offerings are worth a look, too. The casino library is relatively limited, with just 550+ games, but it offers a good variety. The live casino tables run smoothly, and the recently added sportsbook is surprisingly good.

When it comes to poker itself, CoinPoker covers every type you’d expect. You’ll find Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and 5-card Omaha, all with decent traffic, though activity can vary depending on the time of day. I’ll break down each of these game sections in more detail below, so you’ll get a clear picture of what to expect.

Software ProvidersBooming Games, Novomatic, Boomerang, Evoplay, Hacksaw, Pragmatic Play, NoLimit City, Penguin King, Relax Gaming, Voltent, Yggdrasil, etc.

CoinPoker Cash Games

Before I continue, I must point out that at CoinPoker, all games are played through the downloadable client, and there’s no instant-play option in a browser.

Once you install the client on your device (all popular devices are supported) and complete registration, you can jump into any cash game or tournament poker offered. They’re separated as different game sections, so you won’t mix them up.

CoinPoker Cash Games

CoinPoker Cash Game

Starting with the cash games, the options include Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and 5-card Omaha. The main currency on the entire client is USDT (Tether), so all blinds, bets, and buy-ins are displayed in Tether (you’ll see the Tether icon ₮ next to the values).

The table stakes range from 0.01/0.02 up to 1000/2000, while buy-ins go from 25 to 20,000, meaning there’s truly something for everyone. Realistically, though, the most action happens at the low to mid-stakes tables. Most of the high-roller tables were completely empty each time I checked.

Tables come in 2, 4, 6, and 7-player formats, and you can filter by blinds, buy-in, or special rules to find the game that suits you. As expected, the Hold’em tables attract the most traffic, but even Omaha and 5-card Omaha games have decent activity, especially during peak hours.

CoinPoker Tournaments

CoinPoker Tournaments

CoinPoker’s tournament scene is actually surprisingly strong, and it’s not just the flagship series that draws attention. The tournaments are divided into different sections, and I actually like the division, but realistically, the filtering option you’ll be using the most is the ‘buy-in’, which ranges from freerolls and Centrerolls of $0.1 to high roller tournaments with a buy-in of $100+.

If you’re into freerolls, low-stakes, and medium-stakes tournaments, CoinPoker is unbeatable at the moment. Of course, there are several types of tournaments, each with its own vibe, buy-ins, and level of competition:

  • Standard tournaments – These are your typical poker tournaments with a fixed buy-in and a guaranteed prize pool. You play until one player takes the pot, with payouts distributed according to final rankings. What makes them different from freerolls is that everyone has skin in the game, so the fields are slightly more serious and competitive. The buy-ins range from $1 to $100+.
  • Freerolls and Centrolls – I counted over 20 daily freerolls and centrerolls. Freerolls have no buy-in at all, while centrolls have tiny buy-ins of around $0.1, so they’re really low stakes. The prize pools are smaller, but they’re perfect if you just want to try your hand at tournament play without risking much. For example, I participated in over a dozen freerolls while testing CoinPoker, and I ended up winning over $10 in total. It’s not much, but I had a lot of fun playing, and I didn’t spend a dime.
  • Progressive Knockouts (PKOs) – These tournaments add a bounty, which makes them a bit more complicated and better suited for more experienced players. Every time you knock out a player, you claim part of their bounty, and the other part is added to your own head. This changes the dynamic because it rewards aggression and targets opponents, rather than just surviving to the end, so I wouldn’t recommend them unless you really know what you’re doing.
  • Satellite Tournaments – These are essentially qualifying events for higher buy-in tournaments. Instead of paying the full cost for a big tournament, you can enter a satellite for a fraction of the buy-in and try to win a seat. For example, if a big Sunday tournament has a buy-in of $500, you can play a Wednesday satellite with a $25 buy-in, and if you win, you get a free ticket to the big tournament.
  • Special Series (CSOP & CoinMasters) – These are the major tournament series at CoinPoker. CSOP happens twice a year with 100+ events and prize pools in the millions of USDT. CoinMasters is a bit smaller with a $100,000 “poker career” prize, along with significant cash rewards. Note that these are not everyday tournaments, and they often attract professional poker players. For example, this year’s CoinMasters has been built through collaboration with professional poker players like BenCB, Patrick Leonard, and Mario Mosböck, so you can expect other pros to show up as well.

CoinPoker Nolimit City Slot Game info

CoinPoker’s casino section is actually well thought-out, and it shows in the way the pokies are presented. With just over 350 games in total (around 300+ pokies), it manages to squeeze in a surprising selection of the biggest pokie hits. Seriously, it feels more like a hit compilation than a standard casino library, and you’ll recognise a lot of the titles immediately.

For example, there are Pragmatic Play with hits like Sugar Rush, Big Bass Bonanza, Gates of Olympus, and The Dog House, Hacksaw Gaming brings games like Bash Bros and Stormborn, Novomatic contributes with its classics like Pirate Queen and Rise of Tut, Yggdrasil contributes with games Break the Vault and Fall of Asgard… shall I continue? I think you get the point.

The games are organised into categories like Top Games, Bonus Buy Games, and Jackpots, with options to filter by developer or use the search bar if you’re looking for something specific.

One feature I particularly like, which is something you rarely see in Australian casinos, is the hover-info option. When you hover over a pokie icon, there’s an exclamation mark at the top. Click it, and you get all the key info for the pokie: min and max bets, RTP, volatility, paylines, and max payout. This is a feature every online casino should have!

CoinPoker Table Games

The selection of RNG table games is decent. With around 20+ games, it’s not the largest selection out there, but it covers the basics. You’ll find several blackjack and roulette variants like standard blackjack, Blackjack Lucky Sevens, Poker Jack, as well as American and European roulette.

There are also several baccarat games, Hi-Lo Dice, and Dragon Tiger, and that’s pretty much it. Another positive here is that all the RNG table games are available in demo, and they also have the hover-info option, where you can check the game info before you start it.

CoinPoker Live Casino Games

The Live Dealers section was actually my biggest surprise here. It features over 400 tables with so many roulette, blackjack, and baccarat variants that you’ll likely never get to try them. I must point out, however, that even though you’ll see all ~400 games regardless of your location, the list also includes Evolution Gaming’s titles, which are restricted in Australia. If you try to launch one of these games, you’ll get a message that the game is restricted in your region.

Still, there are over 200 live dealers you can play from studios like Pragmatic Play Live, Live88, and Winfinity. I had a great time playing Big Bang Roulette by PP Live, Royal Riches Roulette by Live88, and the fun Top Card game by Winfinity.

There are also plenty of game show-type games like Treasure Island and Mega Wheel 500x, as well as other games like Andar Bahar 5000x, Dragon Tiger, and Millionaire Tapcards.

CoinPoker Jackpot Games

You’ll find the Jackpot Game category under the Casino section, and it features around 80 games.

Don’t expect some massive progressive jackpots, though, as the library only features fixed jackpot pokies like Candyland Jackpots, Hot Slot 777 Hold the Jackpot, Cash Link Hold & Win, and similar. They’re all good pokies with wins of 15,000x the wager or even more, but they’re not true progressive jackpots.

CoinPoker Sportsbook

CoinPoker recently added a sportsbook to its platform, and it’s a big one. There are over 40 sports to bet on, and I wouldn’t get too much on the betting lines because there’s literally everything you can think of. Sports like soccer, basketball, F1, tennis, and other popular events get massive coverage, but niche sports get good coverage too, like water polo and handball.

Rugby League, Aussie rules, and Rugby Union all get good coverage, but CoinPoker should work on the filtering options because everything looks and feels a bit clustered. Also, the eSports are mixed up with other sports, so it can be a bit confusing to see Valorant and Dota 2 in the same section with Newcastle United vs Benfica.

If we compare the list of software providers to a casino like Neospin, for example, it might look tiny. However, for what CoinPoker is, I consider the list of software providers to be very solid. There are around 35 names like Hacksaw, Booming Games, Pragmatic Play, and some niche developers like Bang Bang Games and Darwin:

  • AceRun
  • 4ThePlayer
  • AvatarUX
  • Bang Bang Games
  • Backseat Gaming
  • Boomerang
  • Bitpunch
  • Booming Games
  • BullShark Games

Payment Methods at CoinPoker Poker & Casino

CoinPoker is a crypto gambling site that operates with stablecoins and altcoins. The main currency used across the platform is Tether (USDT), which is pegged to the US dollar, along with CHP, CoinPoker’s in-house token. In practice, though, you’ll be holding and playing with Tether for most things.

You can fund your account with a range of popular cryptos like USDC, BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, or POL, but note that the system automatically converts them to USDT. The conversion rate is displayed clearly before confirming the transaction, so you always know what you’re getting.

If you prefer more traditional payments, you can also deposit with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, GPay, and PIX. Just note that your deposit will be immediately converted to USDT. Also, if you choose to deposit with cards or digital wallets, there’s a minimum deposit amount of $20, while there’s no minimum threshold if you deposit with crypto, so you can deposit as little or as much as you want.

All transactions are generally instant, though they can take a few minutes during periods of high network congestion.

Tip from Australian Gamblers: You can pick your preferred blockchain network, including Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Smart Chain, and Tron. Just a heads up: Ethereum tends to be the slowest and most expensive option because of gas fees. Personally, I use Polygon, which is fast and practically free to use, but the choice is yours.

Now, when it comes to withdrawals, things can get a bit tricky. Since USDT is the native currency at CoinPoker, almost everything happens in USDT. However, there’s another native currency, CHP, so you can also play and get bonuses in CHP (specifically the rakeback).

Now, to use CHP, you can buy them directly from the client (the current exchange rate is 1 USDT = 17.7 CHP) or buy them elsewhere and deposit them in CHP here. If you want to withdraw in CHP, you can’t convert it into any other currency, so you can just transfer your CHP from the CoinPoker client to your wallet.

If you use USDT (which you probably would), you get the option to either withdraw in USDT or convert your USDT to USDC or BTC. I strongly suggest you avoid any conversions here and use the native USDT currency. The minimum withdrawal is $5, but the Ethereum network fee is also $5, so it’s better to withdraw more than that.

Or, you can use the Polygon or Tron networks for withdrawals, and you will pay a much smaller network fee (it’s usually just a few cents). The maximum withdrawal amount per transaction is $100,000, but there are no daily, weekly, or monthly limits.

Mobile Play at CoinPoker Poker & Casino

CoinPoker apps

Here, I struck a bit of a hurdle. CoinPoker used to have its mobile app on the iOS App Store, but it doesn’t anymore. So, if you’re an iPhone user, I’ve got bad news for you. We’ll have to wait for the operator to sort it out, because there’s no iOS app at the moment, which means you can’t play on CoinPoker from an iPhone.

They’ve been responsive and confirmed they’re working on fixing the issue, but there’s still no clear date for when it’ll be back.

If you’re on Android, you can download the APK directly from the official site and install it on your device. It works fine, though to be honest, I’d still stick with the PC or Mac version for now. It’s smoother and just feels better overall.

Is CoinPoker Casino Legit for Australian Players?

Yes, CoinPoker is a legitimate and fully licensed platform, operating under the Anjouan Gaming License (No. ALSI-202512004-FI1). It was launched in 2017 by well-known poker figures, along with a group of blockchain developers. The idea was to build a platform built around transparency, and that’s why it uses blockchain technology, where users can verify fairness and transactions.

It has earned a solid reputation in the crypto poker scene and overall online poker scene, and CoinPoker has proven reliable for Australian players who like crypto-based poker and casino gaming.

CoinPoker does have a Responsible Gambling page, although it’s a bit hidden in the footer of the website – and you only use the website to download the game client.

Still, the section covers the basics like setting limits, recognising problem gambling behaviour, and seeking help if needed.

CoinPoker No KYC Casino

CoinPoker actually promotes itself as a no-KYC casino, and that claim holds up in practice. Since all transactions are done through crypto, you can play, deposit, and withdraw without going through a full verification process.

I’ve tested it myself, and you won’t be asked to upload ID documents or proof of address. Still, you’ll need to provide some basic details like your full name, country, and age during registration, which is just enough to confirm you’re of legal gambling age and not breaching any regional restrictions.

Customer Support

CoinPoker doesn’t offer live chat support, but surprisingly, the customer service is still excellent. You can reach the team via email through the contact form (just click Help in the top-right corner), but I actually prefer the FAQ page, which is detailed and covers most common questions clearly.

The operator is also active across X, Instagram, Telegram, and Discord, and based on my experience, Discord is where you’ll get the fastest response, be it from the operator or from other community members.

I’ve noticed that many members use the Discord chat to arrange poker games or just have general conversations about the game, and the support team is also very active and ready to help if you need it.

I’ve spent a lot of time at CoinPoker, and honestly, the poker tables here speak for themselves. Yes, the client is a bit dated, and yes, it’s a bit hard to use it on mobile, but here’s the thing: this is primarily a poker site, and many poker players prefer playing on PC rather than mobile.

What’s most important for poker players is traffic and action – and here, there’s always action. From daily freerolls and low-stakes tournaments to higher-stakes games, I’ve never had trouble finding a table for Texas Hold’em, Omaha, or 5-Card Omaha. On top of that, the casino is solid with 550+ games, including 300+ pokies and a live dealer section with over 200 games.
